Parikh delights with unfinished century break

Railways champion Siddharth Parikh kicked off his campaign in the competition with a delightful unfinished century break en route to a convincing win, in the Matunga Gymkhana- Pidilite Billiards Tournament, o

n Thursday.

Facing novice Rohan Jambusaria of Mandpeshwar Civic Federation, Parikh warmed up with a break of 91 in the opening frame of the 100- up best- of- five Group C tie and added the unfinished 100 in the second frame to romp to a 3- 0 lead. Earlier, Jambusaria kept his hopes alive with a crucial 3- 0 win over club mate Chandu Kansodaria.


Twice world runner- up Dhruv Sitwala of PJ Hindu Gymkhana almost matched Parikhs effort when he missed a century break by a solitary point while prevailing over club mate Chetan Hemmadi 3- 0 in his opening Group A tie.

Elphinstone Cricket Club cueists Farhad Tengra and Arun Agrawal endured opening round blues as they were stretched in their group ties.

Tengra dropped the opening frame en route to a 79- 100, 100- 91, 100- 30, 100- 87 win over Naresh Sadarangani of the host club in Group A, while 2010 state champion Agrawal was stretched on two occasions in back- to- back ties before prevailing over Hitesh Kotwani of CCI and Rohinton Daruwala of Dadar Parsee Colony Gymkhana in Group D.
