Opium seized from ambulance, 2 arrested


Indore: Ambulance is generally used to save precious lives, but in this case it was being used to smuggle contraband.

The Crime Branch team intercepted one such ambulance on Sunday and seized it for smuggling opium.

The sleuths also arrested two persons in this connection.

According to DSP ( Crime) Jitendra Singh, information was received that some persons were smuggling opium in an ambulance. Accordingly a police team was stationed at Rajiv Gandhi square and it intercepted the ambulance. During search, they found 3 kg of opium hidden in the vehicle.

The team arrested Deepak ( 25) son of Satyanarayan and Jagdish ( 26), both residents of Mandsaur Sources said the two accused protested the police action on the ground that the police cannot search an ambulance, but during search, 3 kg contraband was seized. During interrogation, the two revealed names of certain persons to whom they supplied the opium.

Based on the information, the police team raided several places but they declined to provide any information.

Meanwhile the two accused are being questioned by the police.
