MP govt’s ‘smart’ initiative to promote e-learning draws praise

Ujjain : The Madhya Pradesh government is going all out to promote e-learning amongst students. It has taken a big step in this direction by distributing smart phones to first year regular students of government colleges. This is part of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s  programme to reach out to students and provide them modern means of learning.

Energy Minister Paras Jain distributed the smart phones to students at an event organised by higher education department at the Madhav College Shatabdi Hall. The event was presided over by MLA Mohan Yadav. In his address, Paras Jain motivated students to make most of these facilities given by the government and excel in studies. Students with better understanding of subject and profound knowledge stand better chances of getting a job, said Jain. Mohan Yadav and UMC speaker Sonu Gehlot also addressed students and commended the Chief Minister for his efforts. Only native students of Madhya Pradesh are eligible for this benefit.

Joint director of higher education department, Dr Usha Shrivastav said that students will have to maintain a 75 percent attendance. Students of Madhav Arts College, Madhav Science College, Kalidas Girls’ College, Post Graduate Degree Girls’ College and Sanskrit College were given the phones. Yogeshwari Rathore, Jagdish Panchal, BS Makkad, Mahesh Sharma and faculty members were present at the event. Jafar Mehmood conducted the event.
