Mahashivratri preparations reviewed by collector, SP

Ujjain : Collector Sanket Bhondve and superintendent of police Sachin Atulkar took a review meeting of worship arrangements for Mahashivaratri in meeting hall of police control room. In the meeting, the collector gave clear instructions that a no vehicle zone should be strictly enforced  during the festival. He said that even his vehicle should be stopped at Begum Baag.

During the Mahashivratri festival,  parking arrangements have been made in Rudra Sagar and Chardham temple. Parking of VIP vehicles will be arranged at the interpretation center. Vehicles coming from Indore Road will be diverted on Hariphatak and vehicles coming from Barnagar will be diverted at Dani Gate and Juna Somaria.

The collector gave strict orders that the officials present would not use a whistle while managing the worship arrangements in the temple. Those who sit on the sidewalk to sell worship material outside the temple should not be allowed to do so, he added. He further instructed that on the day of Mahashivaratri, shopkeepers of the permanent shops outside temple should also keep their materials inside the shops.


The collector instructed that the guidelines given for the afternoon ‘bhasmaarti’ on February 14 should be strictly followed. The online booking of ‘bhasmaarti’ will be completely closed on February 13 and 14. The collector said he and other officers will remain in the control room outside to keep an eye on the whole situation.

During this time, Ujjain Municipal Corporation commissioner Dr Vijay Kumar J, zila panchayat CEO Sandeep GR, additional collector Basant Kurre, Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee administrator Awadhesh Sharma, ASP Neeraj Pandey, Kshitij Sharma, city magistrate, police officers and officers of all departments were present.

Man Mahesh shringar of Lord Mahakal

On the sixth day of Shivnavratri, Lord Mahakal adorned the ‘Man Mahesh shringar’. After the evening worship, new clothes were worn by the Lord. On the seventh day, the devotees will see Lord in Uma Mahesh shringar. On the sixth day of hari keertan at marble platform, Pt Kanadkar recounted the story about the examination of King Shriyal and his son taken by Lord Shiva and Kashi Vaas.
