Karva Chauth, Diwali in the air


Ujjain: The month of October must be special and dear as Navratri, Dussehra, Karva Chauth and Diwali, all the lovely festivals are falling in the month. Although festivals of Navratri and Dussehra are already celebrated with great zeal, Diwali and Karva Chauth have always been special.

And it is in the air, as potters have started preparing Karvey (a small earthen pot) and earthen lamps for the occasion. Now-a-days designer karveys are in fashion. As a custom on Karva Chauth (to fall on October 19), husband gives water to his wife in a Karva and breaks her fast wishing long life for husband.

The potters of city are providing designer kurveys in the market as well as they are exporting the earthen pots to Indore, Agar, Shajapur, Susner, Nagda and many other cities. However, designer earthen lamps are being imported from Ahmedabad and various other cities from the country as the local potters are hopeful for a good business on occasion of Diwali.

Meanwhile, beauty parlours, shops of ladies clothing and jewellery are found hounded by women of all age groups.
