Ujjain : The holy city seemed to be drenched in Yoga colours with hundreds and thousands of people seen doing yogic ‘mudras’ at the Dussehra Maidan, Kshir Sagar Stadium, Tower Chowk and every nook and corner of the city on the International Yoga day on Sunday.
School Education Minister Paras Jain and Member of Parliament Chintamani Malviya reached Dussehra Maidan along with the senior administrative officials to launch the Yoga Day celebrations. The event was organised simultaneously at various other venues also by the local administration. Minister on the occasion said, through Yoga one gets peace of mind, unity of thought and action as well as spiritual strength. He said that the way people had turned up to perform Yoga in this 21st century. He said that he himself is a Yoga enthusiast and does Yoga every morning. Divisional Commissioner Ravindra Pastor, IG V Madhukumar, DJ JP Gupta, Collector Kavindra Kiyawat, SP Manohar Verma, MLA Mohan Yadav, Joint-Director, School Education MS Rathore and District Education Officer Sanjay Goyal also performed exercises.
A quick round of the city showed how very young children to people even in their eighties and nineties, men and women, boys and girls, top officials, professionals and other intellectuals were doing yogic ‘mudras’ from ‘Anulom vilom’ to ‘Kapalbhati’ to ‘Shirshasana’ , ‘Bhujang asana’ and so on. According to the official information, around 7000 person participated in the Yoga session held at Dussehra Maidan. However, majority of them were school students.
Similarly, at Kshir Sagar Stadium, vice-president of Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad Pradip Pandey presided over the event, here Mayor Rameshvar Akhand and Municipal Council Speaker Sonu Gehlot graced the event as chief guest. The Sarve Santu Niramaya at the Tower Chowk also organised a huge gathering, where hundreds of enthusiasts took part in the Yoga session among musical chants.
Yoga event was also held at Vikram University where around 350 persons participated. Vice- Chancellor SS Pandey presided over the event. Registrar Dr Subhash Arya, Dean Prof Shailendra Kumar Sharma, Prod SK Mishra, and many other faculties were present. Yoga session at Government Ayurveda College was presided over by principal Dr RS Chouhan, who on the occasion said Yoga is a boon given to the world by India. Around 250 persons participated in the session.
Maa Kshipra Tairak Dal organised the Yoga event at Ramghat where hundreds of persons related to groups of Jan Abhiyan Parishad attended the yoga session on banks of Kshipra. Vice president of Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad Pradip Pandey was the chief guest. Manohar Bhalerao, Lokesh Sharma, Ritika Shriniwas was present. Patanjali Yoga Training Center, Ved Nagar organised the Yoga session with a public of around 150 persons, where Dr Kishore Soni guided the public on Yogasanas. The girls of Ken International Girls School performed the Yoga at Sports Arena of Mahananda Nagar under guidance of Sneha Sharma. Shruti Marvah and Yogesh Patidar were present.
The Gayatri Shakti Peeth organised their yoga session at Ankpat, where yoga trainer Narayan Singh guided the public. The Madhya Pradesh Yuva Shiv Sena Gauraksha Nyas organised their event at Jaisingpura at 7 am.
State president Manish Singh Chauhan, Hari Mali, Kama Badgotia was present. Sant Balinath Yoga Training camp was inaugurated on the occasion on World Yoga Day, by the hands of former mayor Madanlal Lalawat and former MLA Dr Madhav Prasad Shastri. Dharmendra Rajput, Nikhil Bharadwaj, Shivam Rathore and others performed Yoga exercises at the Rishi Nagar Extension located office of the ABVP.
