Gamblers paraded in city


Ujjain : In a major crackdown on gamblers, Madhav Nagar and Jiwajiganj police raided two dens in the city on Friday and nabbed at least 13 gamblers. Police paraded them at city squares and punished them publically.

According to ASP MS Mujalda, police raided Masiha compound, near Ashray Hotel and arrested six gamblers from there. Police also recovered cash from the accused.

Mujalda also told that he had line attached Mara Singh and Sanjay Tripathi who were members of Chitah party.

Similarly, Jiwajiganj police also raided at Nayapura and arrested seven accused.

One of the gamblers was a banished criminal Monu Pathak, resident of Nayapura. Other accused were Yogesh, son of Mohanlal, a resident of Awantipura, Anil, son of Shantilal, Manish, son of Gordhanlal, a resident of Bherunala, Naushad, son of Shabir Qureshi, Sunil, son of Totaram and resident of Mandi Road and Bhura, son of Bachhu. All the accused were paraded publicly as they were apologising police for not doing the same again.
