Directives galore, Simhastha prep review takes a backseat

FP NEWS SERVICE UJJAIN State Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur chaired a meeting to review the preparations and development works for Simhastha- 2016 here on Saturday at Brihaspati Bhavan. While issuing directives, Gaur asked the officials to present Detailed Project Report of the sanctioned works for this financial year till July 5.

During the meeting, Gaur also issued directives to form a vigilance committee for removing the encroachments prevalent in the Simhastha area. Collector M Geetha presented the outline of development works being undertaken for Simhastha. During this financial year six works of UMC, one work of Water Resources Department and four works of PWD will be executed according to the decision taken during the meeting held in Bhopal few days back. The said meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary.

Ujjain Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department, Water Resources department were asked to accomplish their sanctioned works within the stipulated deadline. A budget of Rs 55 crore was proposed for these works.


While imparting information about project work, Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Shukla ensured that DPR of development works comprising raod construction of Chamunda Mata to Nai Sadak, road widening of Gopal Mandir to Qamari Marg, cement concrete road construction of Harsiddhi to Narsing Ghat via Lalpul Triangle will be presented till July 5. Likewise, PWD chief engineer described that construction works of Barnagar road to Harifatak Overbridge, MR- 10 Dewas to Maksi Road and MR- 5 Maksi to Agar Road will be completed during the FY 2011- 12. During his visit, Gaur inspected several development works being undertaken in the city for the upcoming Simhastha and issued necessary directives.

Firstly, Gaur visited Mahakaleshwar Temple on Saturday at 7.45 am. Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Shukla demonstrated the plan of development works related to Mahakal Van Project and inspected the related sites.

Gaur also inspected construction works of Rs 1.50 crore being done at Piplinaka Square. The minister, however, seemed disinterested in inspecting the development works and was in hurry to complete the formality of inspection.

Gaur also attended Shourya Day celebration of Jhansi ki Rani and visited an exhibition there. Gaur was demanded for establishing a statue of Lakshmibai in the city. Gaur asked exhibition coordinators to prepare a proposal and sending it to Bhopal. Gaur further reached residence of Jagdish Panchal and blessed newly married couple there and then proceeded towards the residence of former MLA late Babulal Mahere and consoled his family while issuing order of providing his family assistance of Rs 20, 000. Gaurs visit was quite relaxed as he did not scrutinize development works being done in the city in the name of beautification. It does not seem like supervising the vital issues prevailed in the city, but was a trip to relax.

Gaur says local dev issues meaningless!

Minister Gaur had alt145 formallyinvited the media persons to share his vision regarding the development of Ujjain and governments blue print on the preparations of international mega event Simhastha Fair- 2016. But, how he was prepared to interact with the 60 odd representatives of print and electronic media could be gauged from the fact that he directed his Minister of State Manohar Untwal to brief them about the visit. When Untwal started reading out some notes from his diary, Gaur immediately intervened saying such notes would be circulated later by the Divisional Public Relations Department. When scribes started asking questions, Gaur within no time said alt145 Jai Hindand left his chair. Again, when media persons registered their protest saying that the minister had invited them and then he is leaving the press conference in such a haste, Gaur asked the administrative authorities to leave the place so that he can talk to media persons.
