Central Railway ( CR) services were affected on Monday due to an agitation staged by people after a six- year- old girl was run over by a down slow train.

Asmita Dinesh Shrungare ( 6) was crossing the tracks when the Titwala- bound local ran over her near Mumbra. The commuters in the premises were in no mood to take the incident lightly and resorted to agitation.

” Train services on slow line were affected from 5: 35 pm to 6: 51 pm on Monday because of an agitation by commuters over an incident wherein a girl tresspasser was run over at Mumbra by TL- 39 Titwala local,” read an official statement by CR. Total 13 trains, including nine down and four up trains, were held up on the section due to the incident.

Suburban trains on the slow line were diverted between Mulund and Diva stations on fast line during the period.

” CR has undertaken several public awareness campaigns to create awareness about dangers of tresspassing. CR appeals to public and rail users to use foot overbridges to cross the tracks,” said a CR spokesperson.
