Chain- snatching incidents continue to rise

FOLLOW US:

Over the last three days, 11 chain snatching cases were reported and the overall loss was Rs 8.25 lakh

Mumbai : It seems that the Mumbai Police is unable to nab speeding bikers who target elderly women for their gold chains, resulting in a rise of this trend.

Over the last three days, 11 chain snatching cases were reported from across Mumbai, where nine cases were of this nature.

The overall money lost by the victims in these 11 cases is pegged around a whooping Rs 8.25 lakh.

Over the past few years, a shift has been seen in the modus operandi used by chain snatchers, who have taken to motorcycles to escape from the spot. Testimony to the trend, is the fact that none of these nine cases have been detected, whereas the Kasturba Marg police in Borivali east caught a 22- year- old snatcher who run off after snatching a gold chain from a 71- year- old woman on Sunday.
