Central Bureau of Investigation ( CBI), the ace investigating agency of the country has yet not identified one of its own tainted officials who is an accused in the suicide of PA to IG Hoshangabad. CBI aut

horities are waiting for initiative from Bhopal police regarding the case.

Rumours are rife that the said official has been transferred by CBI to some another state in a bid to save him from police action as well as to save the image of the agency.

Arun Tiwari, the personal assistant to the Inspector General of Hoshangabad range committed suicide at his home in Bag Sevania area on October 2. A case of abetment of suicide was registered against three persons, including two advocates KP Pancholi and Vinod Pandey and a CBI employee Manoj on the basis of the suicide note left by Tiwari. Tiwari allegedly played a role in the payment of Rs 32.50 lakh that was given on behalf of a manager of the Central Bank of India Basant Pawse to the three accused, including two advocates and Manoj, for disposing of a corruption case registered by the CBI against the bank official.

However, instead of disposing of the case, the CBI employee had filed a charge- sheet in the matter following which Tiwari demanded return of the money. But, later, the trio allegedly started threatening him.

On October 2, Tiwari had a tiff with the accused on the matter, following which he consumed celphos tablets at his residence after which he was rushed to hospital where he died.

Since in the suicide note Tiwari had mentioned the CBI employee merely as Manoj and his surname and other details like designation etc were not mentioned, police failed to ascertain his identity.

After a few months the two advocates KP Pancholi and Vinod Pandey were granted anticipatory bail by the High Court. The third accused Manoj is yet to be traced by the police.

Sources said that CBI had transferred an employee named Manoj to Assam.

On being contacted CBI Bhopal unit DIG, Hemant Prayadarshi said that he has come to know about involvement of CBI official in the case through media.

Bhopal police is investigating the case and they have not approached with details about the accused if any.

As far as the cases regarding bank official Basant Pawse are concerned, CBI has filed charge- sheet in all of them.
