2 chain snatchers arrested with 10 chains, 2 bikes


Ujjain : City police claimed to have arrested two members of chain snatcher Irani Gang, here on Saturday. Police have recovered 10 gold chains and 2 motorbikes from the arrested accused. City police thoroughly investigated into recent chain snatching incidents and went through the CCTV footages obtained from the spots. It was found that the appearance of chain snatchers who committed the crime at Hira Nagar in Indore on May 5 was similar to the chain snatching incidents took place in Ujjain. They doubted the involvement of Irani Chain Snatchers Gang of Bhopal in these incidents. Police came to know that both the chain snatchers had hurt after committing the crime. On this clue, police raided the dens of Irani Gang in Bhopal and arrested accused Yasin Ali and his accomplice Raja. On being interrogated accused confessed their crime and involvement in chain snatching incidents took place in Indore, Dewas and Ujjain.

Accused further disclosed that Yasin was a driver earlier while Raja used to sell mobile phones. Both of them formed a gang and committed crimes. Both the accused used to do reiki of women at colonies, temples and parks. They used to chase women riding alone on scooters and snatched their gold chains at the place of solitude. After committing the crime, they used to flee away towards Bhopal. Police recovered five gold chains, a wedding necklace, a bike, five chains, and a motorbike from Raja. Both the accused confessed committing more than 25 chain snatching incidents in Ujjain, Indore and Dewas within last one year. Further investigation is on.
