  • Madhya Pradesh: Rs 2 crore scam unearthed in women, child department

    Bhopal: A scam of around Rs 2 crore has been unearthed in Madhya Pradesh’s Women and Child Development (WCD) Department, police said on Wednesday. An FIR was registered by the police after WCD Joint Director Swarnim Shukla on Tuesday filed a complaint against 14 officers and workers.

  • Women and Child Department to give specially-designed rape investigation kits to police, hospitals

    New Delhi: The Ministry of Women and Children Development (WCD) will be distributing specially-designed kits to all police stations and hospitals to carry out immediate medical investigation into sexual assault cases, Union Minister Maneka Gandhi said today. The rape investigation kits are being procured by state governments with financial support under the Nirbhaya Fund, she said.

    Mumbai: In order to better the coordination and implementation of various schemes of Women and Child Welfare department (WCD) with other government departments, Sudhir Mungantiwar, minister for finance and planning announced the setting up of Gender Budget Cells in his ministry. The inter-departmental committee would be set up among the concerned department to ensure better effective implementation of various schemes.
