    Following heavy rains in the region, the Gambhir dam filled to its capacity of 2250 McFt.  Mayor Meena Jonwal visited the dam to take stock of the situation of and gave necessary instructions to officials concerned.   • Ujjain: UMC to organise competitions to promote cleanliness

    Mayor Meena Jonwal convened a meeting on Thursday for organising competitions to promote cleanliness campaign across the city. Jonwal said that commoners should be connected with campaign by organising zone wise competitions. Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) will hold a jugad competition between September 22 and 28 for college-level students in which the contestants will make useful things from wasted items. An Indradhanush competition will be organised for college students from September 24-26.

    Ujjain: After removing encroachments Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) started deepening work of Neelganga pond. UMC team removed 15 to 20 trolleys bounders which were filled by land mafias to bring the pond into its original shape.     Ujjain: Municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal inspected various areas of the city and took stock of cleanliness arrangement on Wednesday. The commissioner visited ISKCON temple, Agar Road, Chamundamata Square, Koyalafatak, Indira Nagar, Purushottam Sagar, Ankpat Marg, Nikas Chouraha, Kanthal Chouraha, Naisadak, Doulatganj, Fawwara Chowk, Indore Gate, Dewas Gate and Freeganj areas.   • Ujjain: UMC recovers Rs 5 lakh as property tax, penalises litterbugs

    Ujjain: Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) is continuously targeting big property tax defaulters. On Friday assistant property tax officer Jafar Alam Ansari recovered Rs 5 lakh from Omkar ginning factory. Officials said that property recovery campaign will continue.UMC officials also informed that efforts of maintaining cleanliness to upgrade the city’s standing in cleanliness survey are also being made.

    Ujjain: Following murder of a devotee in Mahakaleshwar Temple area, the administration demolished 25 illegal shops during a demolition drive on Wednesday.     Ujjain: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s journey as a master orator began from Ujjain. At the age of 12 years, he delivered his first speech during Baal Sabha in Barnagar tehsil. Barnagar residents still remember Vajpayee as a child who completed his primary education from Anglo Verma Middle (AVM) School. Madhya Bharat head of Jan Sangh Badrilal Dave lived in Barnagar.

  • Ujjain: UMC removes encroachments from Panchampura area

    Ujjain: Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC)’s move to remove encroachments continued on the third consecutive day on Monday.  UMC officials said the drive will continue the public interest. Despite huge protests, the UMC team removed illicit constructions constructed on drainages in Panchampura area of the city with the help of police administration. The team removed three houses completely.
