  • Ujjain: Mahakal temple surroundings become encroachment free

    Ujjain: Ujjain Municipal Corporation razed most of the illegal constructions from surrounding areas of Mahakal temple. The campaign began from Wednesday. Municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal inspected the encroached areas and urged kiosks owner to remove encroachments willingly following which UMC started its campaign.

  • Ujjain: Assembly election preparations is top priority for admin

    Ujjain: Collector and district electoral officer Manish Singh took a standing committee meeting at Brihaspati Bhavan on Thursday. SP Sachin Atulkar, additional collector Deepak Arya, ASP Pramod Sonkar, assistant district electoral officer RP Verma and political party representatives Vivek Gupta, Kapil Katariya, Anil Sharma, Shil Lashkari were present during meeting.

  • Ujjain: Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ashes to arrive today

    Ujjain: Leaders of local BJP unit held a meeting on Wednesday to take stock of preparation for immersion of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s ashes in Kshipra. The urn containing the ashes is expected to arrive in the city on Thursday night.

  • Ujjain: 25 illegal shops razed in Mahakaleshwar Temple area

    Ujjain: Following murder of a devotee in Mahakaleshwar Temple area, the administration demolished 25 illegal shops during a demolition drive on Wednesday. Most of these illegal shops are owned by anti-social elements. On Wednesday, a team of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) reached the temple premises.

  • Ujjain: Exhibition Bus creates awareness on environment protection

    Ujjain: Children Science Centre, Indore, along with Environment Protection and coordination Organisation (EPCO) has undertaken an environmental protection awareness campaign in religious and tourist places. In this context an exhibition bus, containing ecological models and posters of ways to protect environment and biodiversity reached the city on Wednesday to create mass awareness.

  • Ujjain: Rain lashes city, Gambhir dam receives 116.85 McFt water

    Ujjain: Heavy rain intermittently lashed the city from Monday evening and continued till Tuesday evening. According to Government Jiwajirao observatory 70 mm rain was recorded during this period. The weatherman said that moderate or heavy rain is likely in the next few days as the monsoon is active in the western parts of the state.

  • Ujjain: Congress celebrates Rajeev Gandhi’s birth anniversary

    Ujjain: District Congress committee and block Congress committee Jiwajiganj celebrated ex-PM Rajeev Gandhi’s birth anniversary as ‘sankalp diwas’ (pledge day) on Monday. The party men garlanded the Rajeev’s statue at Rajeev Gandhi Chowk and also on his portrait at party’s office located in Kshir Sagar area.

    Ujjain: Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) on Monday held a condolence meeting on ex-PM Aatal Bihari Vajpayee’s demise. Mayor Meena Jonwal told the gathering that new under construction projects will be dedicated and named after Vajpayee.

  • Ujjain: Devotee stabbed to death, wife injured on Mahakal temple premises

    Ujjain: A devotee was stabbed to death and his wife injured by a kiosk owner over a petty issue on Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple premises on Saturday night. On being informed, the police reached the crime scene and sent the two injured to a hospital where the husband was pronounced brought dead. The two accused Amit Trivedi and his father Rajaram have been arrested.

    Ujjain: Municipal commissioner visited Ramghat, Narsingghat and Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple areas on Sunday and took stock of cleanliness. She also visited remote areas of the city falling under ward number 40, 41 and 43.

    Ujjain: Vishav Hindu Mahasangh registered their resentment against Municipal Corporation’s negligence by burning an effigy of municipal commissioner as a symbolic gesture at Kanthal chouraha on Sunday and also sought collector’s initiative to make the city clean and encroachment free.

  • Ujjain: Driver, cleaner, cattle killed as speeding vehicle rams into tree

    Ujjain: A speeding loading vehicle rammed into a tree and overturned killing the driver, cleaner and claves on board on Friday in early hours of morning, near Nalva village on Barnagar Road. The accident was so dreadful that the front portion of the vehicle’s body had to be cut to take out the dead bodies.

  • Ujjain: 18-year-old denied electoral registration, files plaint with ECI, EC

    Ujjain: A man has filed a complaint with Election Commission of India (ECI) and state election commission (EC) after his 18-year-old son was denied registration in the electoral list, here on Friday. Electoral list expansion work has long been on in the city under which youths, who have attained the voter’s age of 18 years, are being incorporated.

  • Ujjain: Devotees spend over 7 hours to get into at Nagchadreshwar Temple

    Ujjain: Over 4 lakh devotees that arrived in the city bore the brunt of mismanagement for getting into Nagchandreshwar temple, which opens once in a year, on Nagpachami. Devotees including children, elderly people, Kanwar yatries and others were forced to spend 7 to 8 eight hours to get into the temple which is located in the premises of Shri Mahakaleshwar.

    Ujjain: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s journey as a master orator began from Ujjain. At the age of 12 years, he delivered his first speech during Baal Sabha in Barnagar tehsil. Barnagar residents still remember Vajpayee as a child who completed his primary education from Anglo Verma Middle (AVM) School. Madhya Bharat head of Jan Sangh Badrilal Dave lived in Barnagar.

    Ujjain: The 72nd Independence Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm on Wednesday. Programmes were organised across the city to commemorate the Independence Day. Main event was organised at Dussehra Maidan where Energy Minister Paras Jain along with Collector Manish Singh and SP Sachin Atulkar were present.
