  • Ujjain: Police bust robbers’ racket

    Ujjain: Police on Thursday busted a racket of robbers which was involved in several robberies and victimised many employees of finance company in the city. SP Sachin Atulkar told media that police nabbed eight habitual robbers from railway track near Alkapuri colony and recovered Rs 1.66 lakh cash bags, it also seized an LED TV set, mobile phones, 5 motor bikes, 1 scooter and 1 knife.

  • Ujjain: Municipal commissioner takes stock of cleanliness arrangement

    Ujjain: Municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal inspected various areas of the city and took stock of cleanliness arrangement on Wednesday. The commissioner visited ISKCON temple, Agar Road, Chamundamata Square, Koyalafatak, Indira Nagar, Purushottam Sagar, Ankpat Marg, Nikas Chouraha, Kanthal Chouraha, Naisadak, Doulatganj, Fawwara Chowk, Indore Gate, Dewas Gate and Freeganj areas. Deputy commissioner Yogendra Patel and health officer BS Mehte were also present.

  • Ujjain: Collector suspends 241 arms licences

    Ujjain: Recently Collector Manish Singh ordered suspension of arms license of 241 people with immediate effect and asked them to submit arms and ammunition within three days. They have also been directed to submit letter for cancellation of their arms license within 10 days.

  • Ujjain: Suspect swallows poisonous substance in police station

    Ujjain: A suspect in a murder case swallowed poisonous substance during interrogation in Nagziri police station on Monday. The police had recovered a body near village Shakkarwasa from a lonely area behind Central School.  The deceased has a tattoo of his name ‘Suresh Goyal’ on his hand, by which the police identified him.

  • Ujjain: Fifth procession of Lord Mahakal taken out

    Ujjain: Thousands of devotees, public representatives and others savoured Lord Mahakal’s look on the occasion of his fifth procession on Monday. Pujan of lord Chandramauleshwar was performed by divisional commissioner MB Ojha, IG Rakesh Gupta, collector Manish Singh and SP Sachin Atulkar in the vicinity of Mahakaleshwar temple. After performing rituals they launched the procession by holding the lord’s palanquin.

    Ujjain: Bharatiya Janata Party rural organised parent-convenor workshop at Audhichya Brahman dharamshala on Tuesday in the presence district president Shayam Bansal.   • Ujjain: Ashes of ex PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee immersed, people pay tribute

    Ujjain: Thousands of people joined the procession of the urn carrying ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Friday. The procession started from Nanakheda at 9 am. The urn was brought by energy minister Paras Jain and was kept at Swaminarayan Temple. Public representatives and people paid tribute to the departed soul at the temple before taking out the procession.

  • Ujjain: Admin taking step to increase poll percentage

    Ujjain: District administration has launched an information, education and communication campaign under SVEEP plan in view of Assembly Elections-2018. Election literacy clubs have been formed at school and college level. This exercise has been launched to increase poll percentage in the district from previous 74 to targeted 84 per cent.

  • Ujjain: Mahakal temple surroundings become encroachment free

    Ujjain: Ujjain Municipal Corporation razed most of the illegal constructions from surrounding areas of Mahakal temple. The campaign began from Wednesday. Municipal commissioner Pratibha Pal inspected the encroached areas and urged kiosks owner to remove encroachments willingly following which UMC started its campaign.

  • Ujjain: 25 illegal shops razed in Mahakaleshwar Temple area

    Ujjain: Following murder of a devotee in Mahakaleshwar Temple area, the administration demolished 25 illegal shops during a demolition drive on Wednesday. Most of these illegal shops are owned by anti-social elements. On Wednesday, a team of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) reached the temple premises.
