  • Ujjain: Deceased’s kin create ruckus at hospital

    Ujjain: Family members of a man, who died during treatment in SS Gupta Hospital, created ruckus on the hospital premises on Sunday morning. The aggrieved kin accused the hospital management of demanding Rs 45,000 for releasing the body.  However, police later intervened and handed over the body to the family.

    Ujjain: A meeting of ‘Asangathit Kamgaar Yuva Kalyan Samiti’ was held at Madhav Seva Nyas auditorium in the presence of BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, on Sunday. The meeting was organised by Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) with the motive of adding the unorganised class people to the party.

  • Ujjain: Various programmes to mark Parshuram Jayanti

    Ujjain: A meeting of the Brahmin community was held at Hardeniya Palace, Rajaswa Colony to chalk out programmes to be held on Parshuram Jayanti. The meeting took decision to take out a grand procession from Mahakaleshwar Temple on Wednesday at 6pm. The meeting was presided over by Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Samaj president Pt Surendra Chaturvedi.

    Ujjain: A turret of the Tower supporting the iron pipes and angles installed to hoist the BJP’s flag on its foundation day broke, while the pipes and flag were being removed, on Thursday night.

  • Ujjain: Congress men and farmers protest at Krishi Upaj Mandi

    Ujjain: Farmers stopped Mandi proceedings and staged a protest at Krishi Upaj Mandi in lieu of their demands and complaints like implementation of a faulty Bhawantar scheme, farmers not benefitting from the scheme and not getting information on buying crops through SMS. The protest was organised by the District Congress Committee (DCC) in the presence of district president, Jai Singh Darbar.

    Ujjain: The agitating clerical employees formed a human chain around Tower Chowk on the second and final day of their state-wide strike on Friday, in support of their 7-point demands under the leadership of the Government Class-III Clerical Employees Union.

  • Ujjain: Former MLA Rodmal Rathore’s vehicle set on fire

    Ujjain: Former MLA from Tarana, Rodmal Rathore’s vehicle was set on fire on Thursday night. The vehicle was parked outside his house in Mahananda Nagar, when some unknown miscreants sprinkled petrol on the vehicle and set it on fire.

  • Ujjain: UMC’s 319 temporary employees get confirmation certificates

    Ujjain: A permanent order-delivery distribution function was organised for 319 temporary employees of the Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) under the regularization scheme at UMC premises, on Friday evening. It was the first time in the history of the UMC that such a large number of employees were being confirmed.

  • Ujjain: Two youths disappear mysteriously from civil hospital

    Ujjain: Two youths admitted to the civil hospital disappeared mysteriously on Wednesday night at around 3 am. When their family members could not find them even after vigorous search efforts, they gave a memorandum addressed to the superintendent of police to the ASP and urged that the youths be located.

  • Ujjain: Illegal colonies to be regularised

    Ujjain: The official in charge of the colony cell has informed that as per the orders of the State Government, such private illegal colonies which came into existence till December 31, 2016 and were not located on main roads, gardens, cultural areas, Simhastha Fair property, river, pond or green belt, will be legalised after authorities conducted physical verification.

  • Ujjain: Clerks, class IV employees on strike for two days

    Ujjain: Government clerical staff and class 1V employees went on a two day strike and assembled at Tower Chowk in Freeganj on Thursday, protesting against the state government for redressal of their seven demands.

  • Ujjain: Drizzle makes city weather pleasant

    Ujjain: A light drizzle made the city weather pleasant on Wednesday evening though the maximum temperature remained same as the day before. Beginning at around 3.30 pm, the scattered drizzle continued for about 2 hours. The scattered nature of the drizzle was a result of localized formation of clouds.
