    Jodhpur: Self-styled godman Asaram, who was convicted for raping a minor girl, has sent a mercy plea to the governor of Rajasthan seeking dilution of his life sentence.     Bombay High Court convicts abusive man for raping his own minor daughter

    Mumbai: Observing that “truth must triumph,” the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court recently upheld conviction of a 46-year-old man for raping his own minor daughter. The HC upheld the conviction order which was solely based on the DNA reports since the prime witnesses including the victim and her mother had turned hostile, only to save their “sole breadwinner.”

    Bombay High Court: Woman’s loose character doesn’t allow men to rape her

    Mumbai: In a significant ruling, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court recently ruled that even if a woman has ‘loose’ character, it does not allow any man to rape her. The HC objected to the contention of a 32-year-old rape convict, who attempted to cast aspersions of the character of the victim.

    Yavatmal: A BJP councillor of Wani Municipal Council in Yavatmal district has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman for over last three years and trying to extort money from her, police said on Sunday. The accused Dheeraj Digambar Pathe (29), a resident of Wasekar Layout in Wani town, was arrested on Saturday night based on a complaint filed by a 20-year-old woman, police said.

    Bombay High Court let off man convicted for raping and killing minor girl

    Mumbai: In an unusual ruling, the Bombay High Court recently let off a man, convicted for raping and killing a minor girl. The court, while acquitting the man, said he was only sleeping ‘peacefully’ besides the six-year-old victim’s dead body. A division bench of Justices Bhushan Gavai and Sarang Kotwal held that there are chances someone else would have raped the minor girl and disposed her body in the convict’s hut.

    Assam: 2 arrested for rape-and-murder of women in trains

    Tinsukia: The prime accused and his accomplice in the rape-and-murder case of two women on board two trains in Assam have been arrested, the police said. The main accused, Bikash Das, was held from Tinsukia Railway Station yesterday evening, while his accomplice Bipin Pandey was arrested from Dibrugarh-Bangalore Express at Banipur Station in the early hours today, the police said.
