    Mumbai: Minor girl sends father to prison for rape using 1098 helpline

    A special court in Mumbai sentenced a 35-year-old man to 10 years imprisonment for raping his minor daughter. The girl was encouraged by a school lecturer on ill-treatment and child harassment and approached the child helpline no 1098 in 2014. She had attended a child rights awareness camp in schools and it was only then that she wanted to reach out to someone who could help her.

    Mandsaur (MP): An eight-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man, who abducted her from outside her school here, police said today. The incident took place on Tuesday evening and the accused, identified as Irfan alias Bhaiyu (20), was arrested late last night, a police official said. The girl was found in an unconscious state yesterday and was admitted to a hospital, where she is stable, police said.

    Gwalior: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by an unidentified person in Kampu area in the city, a police official said today. The incident took place in the early hours yesterday and her body was recovered from the bushes near a wedding venue, where she had gone along with her family, the official said.

    Mumbai: Minor boy detained from Surat under POCSO Act

    Mumbai: A 17-year-old boy, son of a businessman from Surat, was detained by Khar police for creating fake Facebook profiles of a minor girl, who lives with her parents in Bandra (west), and uploading her nude pictures on social media. He was later released on personal bond on Sunday.

    Indore: A man was arrested in Mundi in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa district for allegedly raping his 12-year-old daughter, a police official said on Friday. On the complaint of the victim, the accused was arrested on Thursday night and has been charged with rape under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, said Assistant Sub Inspector Parinita Belekar.
