    Bhopal: BMC imposes fee at Pink Parking

    Bhopal: It continues to be pink. But it is no longer free. Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has begun to recover charges for parking vehicles at Pink Parking lot meant only for women two-wheeler riders at Ganesh Chowk, New Market.

    Bhopal: Setting up of the Pink Parking lot only for female drivers at Ganesh Chowk has lost its very purpose as the male commuters are seen using the area to park their vehicles. Besides, the park attendants are taking Rs 5 as parking fee even when the authorities had decided against charging anything and had designated the space as free parking for woman commuters.

    BHOPAL: To protect women from harassment and eve-teasing by ruffians and anti-social elements, a ‘pink parking’ (exclusively for women) is being developed at Ganesh Chowk (across the road from SBI main branch) in the city’s busiest business district New Market by the association of businessmen of the area. The project has hit a roadblock with the vendors occupying the space refusing to vacate it.
