    Islamabad: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday ordered to reopen the Pakistan-Afghanistan border with immediate effect. The Prime Minister said that the decision was taken as a goodwill gesture as the countries enjoy “religious, cultural and historical ties”, reported Dawn newspaper.

  • Afghanistan urges Pak to reopen border, de-escalate tensions

    Islamabad: Afghanistan has requested Pakistan to reopen the border to alleviate the suffering of people stranded due to its closure and de-escalate tensions between the two countries, the Foreign Office said today. Pakistan had closed the border crossings last month after a fresh wave of deadly suicide attacks killed over 125 people. Officials had claimed that some of the suicide bombers had come from Afghanistan.

    Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today said that with the change of leadership in Afghanistan the two countries have commenced a historic new phase in bilateral ties by agreeing to overcome the past and build a forward-looking relationship based on mutual trust. Sharif made the remarks while talking to Afghan Minister for Refugees and Repatriation Sayed Hussain Alemi Balkhi, who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House this morning.
