  • One-man commission probing Jayalalithaa’s death takes charge

    Chennai: Justice A Arumughaswamy, appointed by the Tamil Nadu government to inquire into the circumstances leading to the hospitalisation of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, assumed charge today. The assuming of office by the retired judge of the Madras High Court would be followed by a notification calling for information on the agenda of the one-man inquiry commission.

  • CM, OPS factions annul Sasikala’s appointment as general secretary

    In February Sasikala was elected leader of the AIADMK Legislature Party and made a bid to become the Chief Minister but after the Supreme Court convicted her to four years’ imprisonment in a disproportionate assets case in which Jayalalithaa was arraigned as the prime accused. Since then she has been in the Parappana Agrahara Prison in Bengaluru.
