    7 killed in Mumbai-Goa highway mishap

    Mumbai: Seven persons, including a toddler, were killed while four have sustained serious injuries in an accident on the Mumbai-Goa highway near Rajapur on Tuesday morning. All the deceased and injured were in the Eeco car, while two of the luxury bus sustained minor injuries on the head.

    Bombay High Court pulls up highways authority over pothole-ridden Mumbai-Goa highway

    Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Monday rapped the Maharashtra government and also the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for failing to maintain the national highway (NH 66), connecting Mumbai and Goa. This comes after the HC was informed by the NHAI that the repair work of the total seven kilometers of stretch of this highway near Panvel area, would be completed before the commencement of Ganesh festival.

    Mumbai: The travel time to navigate Kashedi Ghat will be reduced from 40 minutes to 10 minutes as there are plans to construct two tunnels with three lanes each. This Kashedi Ghat is located on the Mumbai-Goa highway near Poladpur. The construction of the tunnel is set to begin the by May and will be undertaken by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

    Audit old bridges, buildings in Goa: D’Souza

    Panaji: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza on Wednesday said an audit of all old bridges and buildings in Goa was needed following the collapse of a British era bridge in Maharashtra. D’Souza told reporters: “Audit has to take place of all old bridges and old buildings… If there are weak bridges, they have to be stopped from carrying passenger traffic.”
