  • Russia begins biggest military drills since Cold War

    Moscow: Russia on Tuesday began its biggest military exercises since the Cold War, with the participation of around 300,000 troops, the Defence Ministry said. Members of the Eastern and Central military districts as well as ships of the Pacific and Northern Fleets, the Airborne Force, more than 1,000 aircraft and around 36,000 tanks and other armoured vehicles would take part in the Vostok-2018 exercises, reports Efe news.

    Chinese begins military exercises amid SCS tensions

    Beijing: Amid the South China Sea tensions, Chinese military today kicked off large scale military exercises pressing troops from the five theatre commands of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) simulating real battle conditions. The military drills which began yesterday will last will last until September and aimed to boost the military’s “trans-regional” capabilities, state run Xinhua news agency reported.

    India, Kyrgyzstan voice concern over extremism and terrorism

    Bishkek: Voicing grave concern over rising trend of extremism and terrorism worldwide, India and Kyrgyzstan today signed four agreements including one to boost defence cooperation and hold annual joint military exercises. The two countries also agreed to expeditiously consider signing an agreement on “combating international terrorism andother crimes”.
