    Mumbai: Bombay High Court frowns at 72 infant deaths

    Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Friday expressed shock over the deaths of 72 infants due to malnutrition in Melghat – a tribal area in Amravati district. It also asked the government whether any high ranking bureaucrat has ever visited the tribal areas to understand the ground reality.

    Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Monday told the Maharashtra government to strive towards being the first as far as eradication of malnutrition is concerned rather than boasting about being ranked third among states in this endeavour. A division bench of Justices A S Oka and M S Sonak said this (malnutrition eradication) was not a competition between states.

    Mumbai: Govandi slum kids top malnutrition chart, says survey

    Mumbai: According to a survey conducted by the Fight Hunger Foundation, non-governmental organisation (NGO) last year over 170 children were found to be suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and 439 children suffering from Moderate acute malnutrition. This survey was conducted in the Govandi M/E ward which has three slums such as Umerkhadi, Sathe Nagar and transit camps.
