    Nashik: A 55-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by seven people here in Maharashtra after he refused to withdraw a molestation case lodged by his daughter against one of them, police said. Four of the attackers, including Sayyad Sayeed who had allegedly molested the woman, have been arrested while a search is on for the other accused, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ratnakar Navale said Monday.

    New Delhi: Of the 224 Karnataka MLAs, 203 have the highest average annual income of Rs 111.4 lakh, followed by Maharashtra’s 256 MLAs (Rs 43.4 lakh), according to an analysis of the affidavits of 3,145 legislators. The findings were released on Monday by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), an NGO that works for electoral and political reforms.

    Mumbai: Maharashtra’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sunil Porwal has been admitted to a hospital here after he suffered injuries to his ribs and lungs due to a fall in a washroom, doctors attending him said Tuesday. Porwal, 59, is undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Bombay Hospital and his condition is stable, Dr Gautam Bhansali, who is treating the senior IAS officer, told PTI.

    Maharashtra man arrested for raping minor, accused’s mother booked

    Mumbai: A man was arrested for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district, over 250 kilometres from here, police said Monday. Accused Afsar Latif Sheikh’s mother has also been booked in the case but is yet to be arrested, an official said. Sheikh (24) allegedly raped the minor girl on the terrace of his house in the district’s Chitale Road area Saturday, the official informed.
