Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee (MTMC) administrator Awadhesh Sharma held a meeting on Monday to decide on the date of Mahashivratri, during which all priests agreed to on celebrate it on February 13. All festivals in the Mahakaleshwar temple, are celebrated according to the Gwalior ‘panchang’.

    Ujjain: A rally of about 100 Congress workers under the leadership of Youth Congress (Ujjain south) president Amit Sharma reached Mahakaleshwar Temple with a saffron flag and protested against misbehavior with devotees by Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee (MTMC) members and security guards, demolishing old temples in the name of construction and commercialisation of faith.

    Ujjain: Do not play dirty at Mahakal, Cong workers sound BJP

    Ujjain: A memorandum was placed at King Vikramaditya’s statue under the leadership of Congress leader Vivek Yadav oppose irregularities at Mahakaleshwar Temple. It also demanded that mythology should not be tampered with. The memorandum stated that if dictatorship of BJP leaders at the temple did not end, then the Congress would organise a mass awareness rally to save archaeological and mythological significance.

  • Ujjain: Two lakh people visit Mahakal on New Year

    Ujjain: Nearly two lakh people visited Mahakaleshwar temple on the occasion of New Year. In the morning bhasm arti, nearly 2500 devotees were present. There was a line of tourist buses outside the temple as a large number of devotees came from Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The devotees entered the temple through four gates.

    Ujjain: A congregation of twelve Jyotirlingas is being organised by Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee (MTMC) under Shaiv Mahotsav-2018 from January 5 to 7. A 60-feet high flag in front of police chowki near Mahakaleshwar temple’s main gate will be worshipped on Monday at 10 am under the leadership of Pradeep Pujari.

    Ujjain: Meeting discusses ways and means to make ‘shobha yatra’ successful

    Ujjain: In the congregation of twelve Jyotirlingas in Shaiv Mahotsav a grand shobha yatra will be taken out from Mahakaleshwar temple on January 5 on the main roads of the city. This shobha yatra will be the centre of attraction and will include replicas of twelve Jyotirlingas as well as other dignitaries, saints and bhajan groups. Attempts are being made to drop flowers from the helicopter on the shobha yatra.

Recounting her unpleasant experience at the temple on Sunday, she said her disability was mocked at. “I am very sorry to tell you that I felt greater pain in visiting Mahakaleshwar Temple than scaling the Everest.

    Ujjain: The much touted ‘Ekatm Yatra’ to collect metal for the construction of the statue of Adi Shankaracharya and an associated mass awareness campaign will begin today. This yatra will begin from Mahakaleshwar temple along with three other places in Madhya Pradesh. The yatra from Ujjain will be led by Swami Paramatmanand Saraswati of Rajkot.

    Ujjain: MTMC’s display of gratitude on being declared ‘clean iconic site’

    Ujjain: Mahakaleshwar temple which was declared as a ‘clean iconic site’ under phase 2 of the Swachh Bharat Mission also received a national prize for empowering the disabled on the International Day of the disabled.     Ujjain: ‘Abhyang snan’ (bathing with lukewarm water) started at the presiding deity at Mahakaleshwar Temple to mark the occasion of roop chaudas on Wednesday. Though, Diwali will be celebrated on Thursday, priests and devotees lit sparklers in the wee hours of Wednesday. During bhasmaarti, the Mahakal Jyotirlingam was bathed with lukewarm water. This ritual starts from roop chaudas every year and continues till shukl purnima.

    Ujjain: The Uma-Sanjhi festival organised every year for preserving and promotion of Malawi folk traditions will begin at the premises of Mahakaleshwar temple on Saturday. The festival will host a series of events including cultural programmes every evening for five days, various competitions, bhajan and kirtan among others. The festival will conclude with the procession of Uma-mata on Thursday.
