    Ujjain: Clashes and heated exchanges between the florists and prasad sellers in front of Mahakaleshwar temple have become order of the day. In a competition to sell their products to devotees coming to the temple, often they pick up quarrels, which sometime turn into a violent fight, leaving the spot tense.

  • Ujjain: Fake journalist sent to one day remand in rape, extortion case

    Ujjain: A local court sent Jagdish Parmar, who claimed to be a journalist, to one-day police remand in connection with rape and extortion of money. He was handed over to the Mahila Thana police. TI Rekha Verma informed that the accused was arrested on Monday afternoon, and produced before a JMFC court, which handed him over to the police station on a day’s remand.

  • Jyotiradiya Scindia to set Congress election campaign rolling from Ujjain

    Ujjain: Madhya Pradesh Congress election campaign head Jyotiradiya Scindia will start his campaign from Ujjain on May 11. Congress party has appointed him as star campaigner for the poll bound state. Party functionary and former MLA Rajendra Bharti said  Scindia will pay obeisance at Mahakaleshwar Temple and address a ‘kisan evam yuva akrosh sabha’ at Samajik Nyay Parisar on Agar Road at 11am.

    Bhopal: Congress state president Kamal Nath plays Hindu card, visits temples

    Bhopal: Kamal Nath began his new innings as Congress state president by visiting temples and seeking blessings of the deities on Wednesday. Nath first reached city’s famous Gufa Mandir in the morning and attended ‘Kirtan’. Thereafter he left for Ujjain to pay obeisance to Lord Shiva at Mahakaleshwar temple. Nath also visited Datia and sought blessings at Bagulamukhi Shakipeeth.

    Bhopal: Kamalnath, after his appointment as Congress state chief, is all set to play Hindu card on the lines of Gujarat model. Kamalnath, who will assume charge on May 1, will begin his functioning with visiting temples. In his four-day tour, Kamalnath will visit Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain, Bagulamukhi Shaktipeeth of Datia and Hanuman Mandir situated at Lalghati in the city.

    Ujjain: A meeting of board of directors was organised at Simhastha Fair Authority office on Friday, to take stock of work being done under smart city project.     Ujjain: Visitors who visit the city to pay their obeisance to Lord Mahakal often face problems at the temple, said social worker Deepak Kodape. Kodape said despite claims of Shri Mahakaleswar Temple Management Committee (MTMC) to provide easy access to devotees, they can be seen struggling with several problems like lack of proper sitting arrangement, drinking water supply and staying without shades on the road during summer.

    Ujjain: Leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal reached Mahakaleshwar Temple to offer coconuts to Lord Mahakal on Wednesday. The offering of coconut has been banned at the Mahakaleshwar Temple due to security reasons.   • Ujjain: Super sized incense sticks donated to Mahakaleshwar temple

    Ujjain: On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, the Mysore Deep Perfumery House (MDPH) donated 5 ft tall mega agarbattis to various Jyotirlinga temples across the country, including the Mahakaleshwar Temple. A release informed that the MDPH placed these innovative incense sticks before the Shiva idols at Mahakaleshwar Temple, Omkareshwar Temple (Madhya Pradesh), Grishneshwer Temple, and Aurangabad (Maharashtra). These super sized ‘agarbattis’ have been manufactured at its state-of-the-art factory at Indore (Madhya Pradesh).

    Ujjain: Mahashivratri will be celebrated at the Mahakaleshwar temple today. Temple gates will open at 2 am on Tuesday for ‘bhasmarti’ and remain open till 11 pm on Wednesday. This happens only once in a year, during the ‘mahashivratri’, when the temple remains open for nearly 45 hours at a stretch.
