  • Ujjain: Fifth procession of Lord Mahakal taken out

    Ujjain: Thousands of devotees, public representatives and others savoured Lord Mahakal’s look on the occasion of his fifth procession on Monday.     Ujjain: Following murder of a devotee in Mahakaleshwar Temple area, the administration demolished 25 illegal shops during a demolition drive on Wednesday. Most of these illegal shops are owned by anti-social elements. On Wednesday, a team of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) reached the temple premises.

  • Ujjain: Devotee stabbed to death, wife injured on Mahakal temple premises

    Ujjain: A devotee was stabbed to death and his wife injured by a kiosk owner over a petty issue on Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple premises on Saturday night. On being informed, the police reached the crime scene and sent the two injured to a hospital where the husband was pronounced brought dead. The two accused Amit Trivedi and his father Rajaram have been arrested.

    Ujjain: A surprise crackdown on malpractices at the Mahakaleshwar temple by the police has unearthed a big ‘bhasmarti’ racket involving several senior priests and commission agents in and around the temple premises. The racket was busted when SDM Anil Banwariya made a sudden visit to the temple and interrogated some people suspected of being involved in it.
