    Mumbai: Days after the Supreme Court legalised consensual gay sex, the LGBTQ community of Mumbai- based Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has alleged that a student passed certain unpleasant remarks against one of its members.Such a behaviour does disservice to the cause of creating a safe space for students, the ‘Queer Collective’ group of gay members at the TISS said in a statement issued Tuesday.

    New Delhi: Senior advocates and jurists on Thursday welcomed the historic verdict of the Supreme Court decriminalising consensual gay sex between adults, saying everyone has the right to live a dignified life with equality. While former Attorney General Soli Sorabjee termed it as a “celebratory” judgment, senior advocate Anand Grover said the verdict will change the political course and human values.

    New Delhi: The Supreme Court has reserved its verdict on a clutch of pleas challenging the constitutional validity of section 377 of the Indian Penal Code which criminalises consensual gay sex. During the concluding arguments before a five-judge constitution bench on Tuesday, Justice Rohinton Nariman observed that if the Supreme Court is satisfied that Section 377 is unconstitutional, revoking it would be the court’s duty.
