    Delhi Police head constable gunned down by unknown assailants

    New Delhi: A Delhi Police head constable was gunned down early on Wednesday by unknown assailants near his residence here, police said. The deceased was identified as Ram Avtaar. He was shot dead at around 12.15 a.m. when he went out to fetch an autorickshaw for a family member on Tanki Road in Mithapur area, the police said.

    Meerut: Two criminals with a bounty of Rs 25,000 each on their heads were gunned down in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut city on Tuesday. The criminals were gunned down in an encounter with Meerut Special Task Force (STF) in a jungle area at Meerut’s Kanker Khera area. “These criminals were previously accused of killing a bride travelling on Meerut Highway,” said Senior Superintendent of Police, Abhishek Singh.

    Sukma (Chhattisgarh) : The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel gunned down two Maoists in an encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district this morning. A joint squad of the CRPF’s 217th battalion and the district police had yesterday arrested two Naxals during a search operation in Konta area, about 500 km from Raipur. The Maoists are said to be India’s biggest internal security threat.
