    Surat: Former Gujarat BJP MLA Jayanti Bhanushali has been asked to appear before a police team in connection with a rape case against him, a senior officer said today. “We have issued summons to Bhanushali under section 160 of the CrPC in the rape case filed at the Sarthana police station in the city in which he is the accused,” said Police Commissioner Satish Sharma.

    Ahmedabad: Former MLA Jayanti Bhanushali has resigned as the vice president of Gujarat BJP following an accusation of rape against him. The 53-year-old leader from Kutch district denied the allegation in his resignation letter sent to the state BJP president, Jitu Vaghani, and claimed it was a conspiracy to malign his image. Vaghani today accepted the resignation, the BJP said in a statement.

The then Gujarat Home Minister Praboth Raval said that about 408 people had died and 355 persons were missing in the Saurashtra region, which was the worst affected. The heavy rains caused flash floods in rivers and collapsed houses.

    Gujarat: 7 people killed, 24 injured in road accident near Bhavnagar-Somnath highway

    Amreli (Gujarat): At least seven people were killed and 24 others injured after a truck skidded off a bridge near Bhavnagar-Somnath highway in Gujarat’s Amreli district.
