  • Mumbai: Major goof-ups by BMC in new DP plan, marks plots in sea, nullahs

    Mumbai: The BMC, while earmarking its new development plan (DP) plots, has made major goof ups. As per the DP, at least six plots around Haji Ali have been designated in the sea. Besides, two plots with a city survey number have been earmarked in the sea along Madh Island, while some plots in Mahul and Oshiwara have been designated in nullahs.

    Mumbai DP-2034: Shiv Sena against opening of salt pans for housing

    Mumbai: The Shiv Sena ministers on Wednesday opposed opening up of salt pan lands in Mumbai for affordable housing in the cabinet meeting, saying it would put additional strain on the city’s fragile ecology. CM Devendra Fadnavis, however, said the decision fell in the Union government’s purview, and raising the issue at this point was akin to “playing to the gallery”.

    Mumbai DP 2034 will increase three times per capita open space

    Mumbai: The newly-unveiled development plan DP-2034 for Greater Mumbai will create more per capita open space for the city. According to the data, currently the ratio of public open space is 1.28 square metre per capita which will be increased up to 3.37 square metre per capita. The additional space will be created from redevelopment of slum and make it mandatory to keep open space in building big residential complexes.
