    Maratha Quota Stir: Cases lodged against 3,000 agitators in Chakan, Khed

    Mumbai: Normalcy returned to the industrial area of Chakan outside Pune City on Tuesday, after two days of violence by Maratha agitators. Two cases have been lodged against nearly 3,000 persons under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections pertaining to rioting, arson and the use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty, among others, at Chakan and Khed police stations.

  • Mumbai: 150 snakes found in Pune apartment

    Mumbai: Nearly 150 poisonous snakes were found in an apartment in Chakan area, Pune after the police raided the premises. The police said the people caught with the snakes wanted to sell the poison of these snakes.  This incident was reported in Kharabwadi area of Chakan and the house was located in Sara City Society. Chakan police raided the premises on Monday night. Bottles filled with poison were also seized.

    Pune: Four vehicles, including two cars, were gutted in a fire that broke out in a tin shed near a town square at Chakan, about 40 km from here, police said today. The vehicles burnt in the fire yesterday were two cars and two 2-wheelers, according to a complaint lodged by one Suraj Pardeshi with the Chakan police. “The fire appeared to have occurred due to a short circuit and no foul play is suspected”, Nayak Havildar Subhash
