Mumbai: The decision by Brihanmumbai Electronic Supply Transport (BEST) to scrap 259 AC buses in the city, has not gone down well with the citizens. Some Mumbaikars have now approached the Bombay High Court seeking a stay on the move.
Mumbai: In a unique stand, the Brihanmumbai Electronic Supply Transport (BEST) has told the Bombay High Court that no citizen has a fundamental right to travel via Air Conditioned (AC) buses. This stand was taken by the BEST in its affidavit filed in the HC, last week.
Mumbai: Hopes of Mumbaikars for the return of AC buses operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking are dashed with the transport wing’s management planning to convert them into non-AC vehicles and reintroduced them on its routes.
Mumbai: The management of Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) plans to suspend the loss-making air-conditioned (AC) buses to cut maintenance cost of these vehicles. The undertaking will shut down the services of its 202 AC buses from Monday. An official told The Free Press Journal, “BEST will be able to save at least Rs 200 crore annually.”
Mumbai : The air-conditioned buses of the BEST have not proved to be lucrative for the undertaking as out of the 270 fleet of buses, only 102 are plying on the road.
