Celebrate app-iness this friendship day

Quality friendships are important in life no matter what the age. At the end of the day we all need someone to talk to about everything and nothing. Often after college, we find ourselves distanced from the closest of our friends. And of course, making friends also becomes a challenge and time-consuming. But there’s an app for almost everything these days including friendships. We have rounded up the best apps, available on iOS as well as android that can help you make friends and meet people with similar interests and also keep in touch with old friends

Known as potential pals, the app helps you find people who share your interests, goals, and personality traits. Me3 works by matching you with people of the same gender in groups of three, called Tribes. You can then chat with your tribe and can see each other’s shared interests, traits, and goals, and meet them if you like.

 Meet My Dog

Dog walkers know how easy it is to randomly talk to people while walking their pooch, but Meet My Dog just made it even simpler. You can easily use it to see what other dogs are in your area, chat with their owners, and event set up doggie dates for you and your hound!

Foursquare is a well known name in social networking, but you can also use it to get to know folk. Its City Guide helps you find the best restaurants and bars in the area, while also giving you some insight into where likeminded folk might reside. Sure, you’ll still have to go up and say hi but it could be worth it.

The app enables you and your neighbours to stay up to date on what’s going on in your local community. You can use the app to learn about fun neighbourhood events, which are great places to meet the people who live near you and make potential friends. You can also use the app to chat online with your neighbours and simply connect with the people who make up your neighborhood.

If you’re an athlete, then what is better than to connect with other athletes for friendship and fun activities? Atleto matches you with other athletes based on your location, skill level, frequency, and mode. You can use the app to check out nearby activities and request to join them. You can choose among more than 40 different sports to find other people that share your favourite activities.

Bumble BFF

Bumble is a popular dating app that recently launched a version for those looking to find friends, not love. You match with people based on your profile, but you only have 24 hours to make a connection before each match disappears.

Stop for a second and think about your best friends from high school, college, or even your 20s. How many of them do you talk to every week? Every month? Every year!? Stitch gives you reminders when it’s time to get in touch with friends. The difference is that rather than reminding you to see your friends, Stitch reminds you to call or text.

Open the app and it would immediately begin to broadcast using the front-facing camera, while notifying your friends that you are live. The app lives upto its name by allowing up to seven other friends to join you with a tap.
