Wimbledon 2018 women’s semi-final highlights: Serena smashes her way into 10th final, to face Angelique Kerber

Serena Williams will face Germany’s Angelique Kerber for an eighth Wimbledon singles title after both won their semi-finals in straight sets. The former world no 1 overpowered Germany’s Julia Gorges, while Kerber beat Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-3. Interestingly, Saturday’s match will be a re-match of 2016 showpiece in which Williams won. In the final, Williams will be seeking a record-equalling 24-grand slam title and her first since giving birth to daughter Olympic last year.

It was an amazing comeback for Serena. The champ was in control to outcast 13 seed Gorges who made her Grand slam semi-final debut. It was the first time at these championships that Serena had faced a player ranked in the top 50. Williams only returned to the Tour in March and despite her maternity break, she is now into a Grand Slam final for the 12th consecutive year.
