Angelique Kerber beats Serena Williams 6-3, 6-3 to become the first German to win a Wimbledon singles title since Steffi Graf in 1996. Williams, playing in her second major since returning to competition after giving birth, remains at 23 Slam titles for her singles career, one shy of Margaret Court’s all-time mark of 24.

The win gives Kerber her third Grand Slam title, and first at the All-England Club. The only major missing from a potential career Slam is the French Open, with the 30-year-old having won the Australian and US Open in 2016.
