Wimbledon 2017 semi-final Pictures: Federer, Cilic set up grand finale

The Wimbledon finals are set, with Roger Federer to take on Marin Cilic on Sunday in men’s final. It is for the first time in 8 years, Roger Federer can win multiple Grand Slam titles in a single year. The Swiss Maestro beats Czech Tomas Berdych 7-6 (4) 7-6 (4) 6-4 in the second men’s singles semi-final on Centre Court. The first two sets went into a tie-break but Federer produced a timely break in the third and held his serve to pocket it 6-4 and sealed the contest in straight sets. Federer aside, it was the first time since 2003 that the semis have featured four men outside the top four in the world rankings.

In the first semi-final, Marin Cilic was made to work hard by Sam Querrey for a spot in the final. Cilic lost the first set but fought back and won the next three to end Sam Querry’s dream. The ladies doubles also continued with Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina setting up a final with Hao-Ching Chan and Monica Niculescu. But for now, the action shifts to Saturday where Venus Williams will take on Spaniard Garbine Muguruza in women’s singles final.
