World No.1 and defending champion Andy Murray was far from his best against the Italian Fabio Fognini but still managed to book a fourth-round berth with a rip-roaring 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win on Friday. Murray saved five break points in the fourth set, before winning five successive games to seal the match.

Meanwhile, Victoria Azrenka, Rafael Nadal and Brit favourite Johanna Konta were among the other big names to win their Round 3 matches on Day 5. For India, men’s doubles campaign ended after loss suffered by Divij and Purav. Earlier, Rohan Bopanna also lost. The match between Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Sam Querry was suspended in the fifth set with the former reluctant to take serve duo to bad light. Both player will again come today to resume with the score at 2-6, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 5-6. On the other hand, Five-time Wimbledon champions Venus Williams beat Naomi Osaka from Japan 7-6, (7/3), 6-4. Venus, at 37, becomes the oldest woman to reach the fourth round of the tournament since 1994. Japanese, Kei Nishikori suffered fresh Wimbledon misery as the Japanese star crashed to a shock third round exit against Roberto Bautista Agut on Friday.

The sixth day will see, among others, Roger Federer, Angelique Kerber and Novak Djokovic in action.
