The mega cricket extravaganza, the Indian Premier League 2018’s player auction is set to leave a bitter-sweet taste in every team’s mouth. On day 1, big players like Ben Stokes, Ravichandran Ashwin, KL Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane and other were auctioned. While Ben Stokes was brought by Rajasthan Royals for whopping Rs 12.5 cr, Team India opener KL Rahul struck a Rs 11 crore deal with Kings XI Punjab.
However, West Indian swashbuckler Chris Gayle surprisingly went unsold despite his well-established T20 batting credentials. England Test captain Joe Root also went unsold along with Team India opener Murali Vijay.
On the other hand, Indian batsman Karun Nair, who had a base price of Rs 50 lakh, fetched a bid of Rs 5.60 crore from Kings XI Punjab.
