Here we go again! What is with Mumbai Indians and their late surge in IPL tournaments and on Wednesday Mumbai once again proved this theory right and crushed Kolkata Knight Riders by 102 runs in front of a partisan Eden Gardens crowd at Kolkata.

Here are the Hi-5 moments from MI’s stupendous win over KKR:

1. Mumbai Indians’ steady start:

Mumbai Indians in this season have changed their top order quite a bit and have not been sure about their line-up for most times. On Wednesday against KKR, Mumbai got off to a steady start and openers Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis took their time and added 46 runs for the first wicket.

At the end of 10 overs, MI were 72/2 and it looked like they might have to settle for a 150-165 score.

2. Ishan Kishan! You little beauty:

Mumbai Indians’ wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan had an average tournament so far and questions were raised on why Mumbai is persisting with him. But, Kishan answered his critics in style and blasted 62 off just 21 balls and hit six maximums. The innings completely changed the momentum of the game and Kishan proved that once you get a little confidence, you can go very far.

3. KKR’s spin trio having a rough outing:

Kolkata’s main strength is their spin trio of Sunil Narine, Kuldeep Yadav and Piyush Chawla. They not only contain, but also pick up wickets and are a bankable presence for the skipper Dinesh Karthik.

But on Wednesday amid Ishan Kishan’s carnage, the trio went for combined figures of 4/118 in 11 overs and that’s where KKR lost the plot and had a demoralising defeat.

4. Kolkata batting line-up collapsing:

Its quite natural that when you chase any target of above 200, you are always under pressure and KKR’s batsmen couldn’t withstand the pressure and collapsed in a heap. Chris Lynn was the top scorer for Kolkata with 21 and all the other batters had a pretty awful night and this defeat might prove to be a turning point for KKR in their coming matches.

5. MI bowlers doing a professional job:

Mumbai Indians bowlers bowled with precision and ticked all the boxes. Captain Rohit Sharma rotated his bowlers quite well and all the bowlers had a good outing. Krunal Pandya had another good match as he picked up 2/12 in 3.1 overs and with this win, MI are peaking at the right time and both batting and bowling is coming together for the Mumbai franchise.
