IPL 2018: 5 Magic Moments from Kolkata Knight Riders’ big victory over Delhi Daredevils

With every match, the flavour for the IPL 2018 is going on a high note. Even yesterday’s match between Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders was a nail-biting one, which saw many players from both the sides knocking great scores in very less balls. While Nitish Rana and Andre Russell’s quick knocks were sensational during KKR’s batting, Rishabh Pant and Glenn Maxwell’s batting was also worth watching. While KKR emerged the winners at the end by a margin of 71 runs, the match saw many twists and turns.

Lets have a look at such five such moments of yesterday’s match which created a feeling of sensation among the fans-

1. Sunil Narine getting out cheaply

West Indies ace Sunil Narine is used by Kolkata Knight Riders to open the batting, taking in view of his ability to hit some big shots. His quick half-century at the start against the RCB match was a big help to chase down the victory in that match. But unfortunately, Sunil Narine could not show his batting magic yesterday as he got out very cheaply making just 1 run of 4 balls. Trent Boult used his smart skills to dismiss Narine by bowling a bouncer which went for an easy catch at the back. With Sunil getting out so cheaply, the top order was quite affected.

2. Nitish Rana smashing quick half-century in just 30 balls

Nitish Rana seems like a great performer in this IPL. Earlier against RCB, he took crucial back-to-back wickets of Virat Kohli and Ab de Villiers, at a time when both were scoring high runs in the match. Yesterday, he proved himself an important asset for his team when he smashed quick half-century in just 30 balls. His speedy partnership of 71 runs with Andre Russel proved to be a great worth as KKR reached 200. Eventually, Rana got caught out on Chris Lynn’s delivery but he had done the damage till then by making 59 runs in 35 balls.

3. Andre Russell’s catch missed by Jason Roy

This can be termed a big mistake by Delhi Daredevils. Andre Russell was dropped by Jason Roy when he was just on 7 runs. On a Mohammed Shami’s bowling, Russell smashed a high shot not long enough and had the obvious chance of being caught. But, fielder Roy attempted an early dive for the catch which resulted in a drop. Post this, Russell kept his hitting momentum on and eventually made 41 of just 12 balls.

4. Dinesh Karthik stumping Jason Roy in a flash

Jason Roy was the biggest hope for the Delhi Daredevils to achieve the massive target of 201 set by KKR. Jason had done the same earlier, by scoring unbeaten 91* while chasing a big total of 194 set by Mumbai Indians. However, his charisma could not work in yesterday’s match due to sensational wicket-keeping skills of Dinesh Karthik. On a wide-delivery by Piyush Chawla, Karthik dismissed Roy by stumping him in a flash of a second when the latter lost his balance and went out of the crease. Sadly for DD, Roy was only able to make 1 run in the match.

5. Maxwell’s quick smash of 47 off 21 with back-to-back sixes

Although, Delhi Daredevils lost 3 quick wickets at the start, the chances for victory were still in their hands. There came a time when Rishabh Pant and Glenn Maxwell were hitting big boundaries and sixes and it seemed like the match could turn in Delhi’s favour. Maxwell, who was on a high during his innings, made 47 off just 21 balls. During the 11th over of Kuldeep Yadav, Maxwell hit two back-to-back sixes which also made the KKR fans furious. But unfortunately, he lost his patience after two continuous sixes and tried to hit one more six, and was caught by Robin Uthappa at deep mid-wicket.
