Indian squad for England series announced, Gautam Gambhir retained


All-rounder Hardik Pandya has been name in the Indian Test squad as the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced 15-member squad for the first two Test match in Mumbai for the five-match Test series at home against England. Its Hardik Pandya maiden Test call.

Opener Gautam Gambhir retained his spot in the squad after KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan failed to recover from the injuries. Karun Nair has also been included in the Test squad in the place of Rohit Sharma, who suffered an injury during the ODI series against New Zealand. Alongwith Gambir, pacer Ishant Sharma also make a comeback.

While India thumped New Zealand, England is coming off a dismal tour of Bangaldesh where the team suffered a humiliating loss in the second and final Test. England visited India in 2012-13, they won the test series 2-1 and that was the last time India lost a Test at home back in 2013.

India is currently ranked No.1 in the world after thrashing New Zealand 3-0 last month. The visitors will head into the first Test on November 9 in Rajkot without any warm-up matches. Following the first Test, the teams are scheduled to play four more match in Visakhapatnam, Mohali, Mumbai and Chennai.
