India whitewash New Zealand by 321 runs, Ashwin shines with 7 wicket

India bundleout New Zealand by 321 runs in the third and final Test series at Indore to cleansweep. New Zealand got all-out for 153 to register India a massive 321-run win on day four of the thirs and final Test match. India won three-Test series 3-0.

Ashwin pciked up a five in the first innings, took seven wickets in the second innings, thus finished the series with a total of 27 wickets.


Having already won the the series, India was aiming for a clean sweep in four years at the home soil. The 321-run victory is India‘s second highest in terms of victory margin. With this win India reclaim the no 1 ranking in the format. Chasing a masssive 475 to win, New Zealand succumbed to Ashwin’s career-best 7/59 to put India on top. He finished with 13 wickets for 140 runs in the match, also his career best. Earlier in the day, Cheteshwar Pujara scored a century to help India post a big total. Alongwith Pujara, Gautam Gambhir scored a quickfire fifty. Gambhir dismissed for 50 while Pujara remained unbeaten.

India will receive the ICC Test Championship mace at the presetation ceremony in Indore, officially announcing the rise to the top of the Test rankings.
