India vs England 3rd ODI: MS Dhoni takes match ball from umpire after Leeds defeat, sparks retirement rumours

Hosts England comfortably beat India by 8 wickets in the 3-match ODI series. It was Team India’s first-ever bilateral series defeat under Kohli’s captaincy. But rather than losing the series, there is another reason which has worried one and all. Former Team India skipper MS Dhoni was seen taking the match ball from the umpire’s hand after India lost the 3rd ODI which has raised doubts of retirement in everyone’s mind. Dhoni took the ball while walking back to the pavilion.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has done the same in the past as well, after quitting Test cricket he had carried the stumps with him into the dressing room. And this he has asked for the match ball from the umpire while walking back to the pavilion. Going by the severe criticism Dhoni received in the ongoing England series due to his poor performances, there are speculations Dhoni might call it quits from the limited overs as well.
