Putting a cool and calculated approach Arantxa potted steadily to quash the aspirations of Saumil Karkera of Garware Club House, by coasting to a 4-0 (31-18, 52-20, 44-41, 40-13) victory. The UP player was also in complete control and outplayed Thane’s Arun Kumar 4-0 (39-2, 38-15, 43-6, 28-6) win and a place in the fourth round.
However, Bombay Gymkhana’s Abhishek Bajaj stole the thunder by compiling a solid break of 72 en route to a 4-3 win against Matunga Gymkhana’s Poras Shah in another third round contest. Bajaj completed a hard-fought 27-33, 54-20, 27-29, 46-29, 45-6, 23-41 and 72-0 win.
