Mumbai : Maharashtra No. 1 Shubham Ambre, Manasi Chiplunkar and Ria Suryavanshi won tight championship rounds to emerge supreme in the CCI Junior Prize Money Table Tennis tournament, at the Cricket Club of India.
After Shreyas Sawant and Gloria George clinched the cadet boys and girls titles respectively, Riya Suryavanshi kicked off an exciting finals day with a hard-fought 8-11, 11-5, 11-7 18-20, 11-6 sub junior girls victory over Nimisha Warang who fought her way back from 1-2 to snatch a nail-biting fourth game before going down in the decider.
After Aditya Shinde overwhelmed Dhruav Das in straight games for the sub junior boys crown, Manasi Chiplunkar endured a stiff challenge from Krisha Agarwal and laboured to a 8-11, 11-5, 11-7, 18-20, 11-6 junior girls victory after dropping the opening game and a tight fourth.
Shubham Ambre saved the best for the last and won the junior boys title following an enthralling 11-8, 9-11, 15-13, 17-15 win over formidable Mudit Dani in an intense battle between attacking rivals that ended in a gripping finish.
Dani kept his hopes alive by snatching a close second game and saving a match point at 9-10 in the crucial fourth after Ambre won a thrilling third over extra points. Dani went on to save four more match points before Ambre terminated the suspense with a brilliant service winner.
