Karachi – Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi is likely to be sacked from the post of T20 skipper after the conclusion of the ongoing World T20 in India.
The news comes in the wake of Pakistan’s heart wrenching six-wicket defeat at the hands of arch-rival India in the T20 format’s pinnacle event.
Following the defeat, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shahryar Khan slammed Afridi for his dismal performance during the high-voltage clash against India and said that the board would start looking for a new skipper after the conclusion of the tournament, the Express Tribune reported.
Afridi failed to replicate his good performance as he had displayed during their win against Bangladesh in their World T20 campaign opener and eventually got dismissed after smashing mere eight runs from 14 balls.
Ahmed Shehzad (25) and Shoaib Malik (26) were the only two batsmen, who provided some resistance for his side.
The 2009 World T20 champions will now lock horns with New Zealand at the Punjab Cricket Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday.
