The householder who has to work late hours, compensates for his absence from home by showering gifts on his wife and children. Once there lived a king. One day, he called all his advisors and asked them to write down the wisdom of the age so that he could pass it on to the future generations. After a lot of work, the advisors came up with several volumes of wisdom and presented them to the king. The king looked at the several volumes and was not pleased. He told his advisors to condense them into one single volume.
The advisors went back to work and returned with one single volume. The king was still not pleased. He told them to condense it even further. The advisors returned a few days later with a chapter that they had reduced to a single page. Yet, the king was not satisfied. So, the advisors distilled the entire wisdom and condensed it to one single sentence. “Nothing in this world is free; everything has a price.” At last, the king was pleased.
There is another story, of a lark in a forest. It was too lazy to catch worms. The bird saw a man with a box full of worms pass by.
“I will give you a feather for a worm,” said the lark and the man agreed. This continued till the lark didn’t have any more feathers to give. As it could not fly or trade for worms, it eventually died.
